This was an amazing day to be a part of. I joined an initiative called Clean Water Couriers, which is a program to bring clean water to remote and catastrophic stricken regions in the world. Waves For Water has teamed up with surf company Hurley International to connect world travelers in search of waves with local non-profits and community leaders to bring clean water filters to specific “hot-spot” regions throughout the world. So the next time you travel you can make a huge difference in the lives of people and communities in distress by packing a few filters in your suitcase. The idea isn’t to get one person to drop off 100 filters and call it a day. We need 100,000 travelers to each pack 10 filters each and deliver them around the globe, creating a ripple effect. While Waves For Water is geared toward surfers, anyone who travels can help. Waves For Water volunteers have successfully set up filtration systems in Haiti, Indonesia, Bali, Pakistan and Chile. Each of these countries are being used as models of success that can be applied worldwide. Volunteers – can purchase w4w filters and deliver to destinations all over the world. Travel with a purpose and do something remarkable. Thanks to Hurley and the Waves for Water program these children in the very isolated village of Juasacoto will now be able to drink filtered water for the first time. Such a great thing to be a part of thank you to Mark & Daves Surf Resort, and everyone else there that day, who made this possible. For more info please visit http://www.wavesforwater.org
